Loacation
Ili River, one of the largest mountain rivers in Xinjiang, takes its beginning in eastern Mt. Tianshan. The Kashi, Kongnaiz, and Terks Rivers are three branches of it. The main course of the Ili River, 1500 km long, is shaped by waters converging in the territory of China, running 205 km from east to west as the upper part in China, flowing into the Kazakstan Republic through the outlet of the Korgas River and eventually emptying into Balkashi Lake.
Scenery
The Ili River and its tributaries abound in fish. In summer, the water runoff is 150 鈥?250 cubic meters per second. The river freezes at the end of November, and begins to thaw in the beginning of April.
The beauty of the Ili River is admired by many. However, many have failed in their trip to the Ili River. Now, the famous Yemadu Bridge, Kalatamu Bridge as well as the Ili River Bridge, 16 kilometers southwest of Yining City, have made the natural moat a thoroughfare.

Suggestion
The temperature on the Ili River may reach 30掳C. Therefore, wearing long-sleeve shirts, sunglasses, head covering and sun block are all highly recommended.
